Senderos del Carbón
The Senderos del Carbón is a unique initiative to sustainably recover the ancient paths used by miners to transport coal in the municipality of Laviana, along the banks of the River Nalón. SJ Puerta de Redes hotel is the ideal starting point to explore this area, as the MTB route begins at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Laviana, just a few minutes from the hotel.
The routes combine mining history, nature and sport, and are designed for both mountain biking and hiking. Highlights include the Flow Trail, Spain's first IMBA-certified flow trail, a spectacular 3.5-kilometre descent through forests; and family-friendly routes such as the Bajo Nalón and Alto Nalón, ideal for all abilities along the banks of the River Nalón.
The Senderos del Carbón is also home to the popular annual BTT race that attracts participants from all over Spain, establishing Laviana as a benchmark for cycling tourism in Asturias.
